Apple Lesson!

Today I wanted to show you how one little activity could extend to like a week of preschool lessons. Once you get started you will realize how easy it is to teach your child while doing something really small.

Apple Stamping is the small activity I am starting with. All you do is half the apple, and then they can dip in the paint and stamp all over their paper. You could even make a big tree by stamping with leaves, then let them make the apples, then have them cut them out.

Other Activities you can do are:

1. You can have different colors of apples that your using and talk about all the different kinds of apples and colors of apples.

2. Art:You can paint with all the colors of the apples and talk about what happens when you mix certain colors together.

3. Fine Motor Skills: Cutting skills

4. Safety: Not touching knifes (can be taught while you are cutting apple)

5. Math: The patterns. You can make patterns with the apples (red red green. red red green. Let them guess what comes next).

6. Creativity: By letting them do art and get messy you are helping their brain work on their creativity. In other wards the right side of their brain!

7. Science: You can talk about what is inside an apple and show the seeds, stem, and skin

8. Math: Don't forget to count the seeds in your apples!

9. Taste/Math: Taste testing the different apples and make a graph of your findings

10. Math: Play Hi Ho Cheerio Oh (yes they are cherries, but I don't think they will even notice)

11. Field Trip: Go to a real farm and pick apples

12. Cooking: Dry apples with your kids

13. Singing/Poems: Learning little apple songs, finger plays, or poems.

14. Reading/Writing: Practice writing A. Because A is for Apple!

15. Fine Motor: Cut an Apple out of card stock and punch with paper punch holes around side. Attach string and let them sew.

16. Fine Motor: String Apple Jacks onto a necklace.

Now that was just in a few seconds I came up with all that. Imagine if I used the Internet, some of the preschool sites listed on this website, or took time to come up with other activities.
