One of my favorites!

Dr. Jean is one of my favorites of kids music! You can see her stuff at her website http://www.drjean.org/ She also has activities, ways to purchase individual songs, or whole cd's, utube links, etc!In Dr. Jean Sings Silly Songs, my favorites are: Bubblegum and Katalina Matalina Dr. Jean and Friends has these as my favorites: Tooty Ta, Macarena Months, Days of the Week.

But now I want the Math is fun CD, Nursery Rhyme one, and a few others. Anyway if you are looking for some new music here are some ideas. Also you can get these on I-tunes!

One of my Favorite Halloween songs!

For two days I have been looking for one of my favorite Halloween Songs, that I had lost in my filing. After one hour on the Internet (because it has the same title as a Disney song) I found it, and I thought I would share.

now I will teach my preschooler this song and I will print on the computer the right amounts ex. 3 pumpkins on one page. Then I will make a counting book and let him make three pumpkins on his page.

Why I love this book for teaching piano to a first time young student:

1. The focus on technique embedded in the book through playful technique games, chants, and carefully-composed pieces that gently lead the child into pianistic motions.
2. The outstanding CD for the young student to listen, sing, tap, and play along with at the piano. The orchestrated songs on the CD feature children singing the lyrics, which has great appeal to the 5 and 6 year-old beginner. The book is about $10.00 and includes the CD!

3. The art features five multi-cultural children who are also learning to play. These "friends at the piano" introduce basic rhythms, white key names, and a variety of white and black-key songs that span classical, folk, and blues.

I know I have recommended this series "Piano Adventures by Faber" before, but I felt I needed to highlight this really cool pre-reader lesson book. So if you want to teach your child, try this out I think you will really like it.

Disclaimer: As the teacher and parent, I do have to hold my hand over my mouth quite a bit because some of the songs and the child's actions can be really funny to watch, especially if the child is taking it totally serious. :)

Kindergarten Graduation!

So my daughter had this cute little program on Friday and they sang this song. It was so cute! Where did that time go? Anyway I thought you would all like to see this one and the really funny one at the end. That one you can google and hear the tune if you want.

Musical Chores!

It's a game called Children's Miracle Music. It gets families to make their beds, clean the house, eat their breakfast, get dressed, brush their hair, wash their dish... all in only 41 minutes and 58 seconds each morning. The most impressive part is that they do this HAPPILY and QUICKLY and without ON WORD FROM THE PARENTS! The game also includes getting into bed at night without any nagging. Just a quick thought

I went to parent teacher conf. last week and one of the teachers said something that made me think a little. I was talking with my daughters resource teacher. We were making a plan of what to do for my daughter who is about a year behind in Math and Reading. I told her that I had decided to start teaching her piano, even though it might be too hard for her. She surprised me by telling me that she thought it was a great idea. She told me that it will better fuse the Right and Left brain into working together. It would require both to work at the same time.

Now I know the benefits of music on babies and in the womb. I have looked at many of studies about it. I also have researched in school how the brain is affected by things. But never did I think Piano would help my delayed child. Amazing. So we are going to start. She also suggested I play classical music for her while she is doing her homework.

Anyway I guess this is another good reason to have your kids take piano.

Just wanted you to know I also just added a free piano music site under music. It is really good. It has different songs with different levels. I just printed a few songs off for my child. It was very easy. My daughter loves the spinning song!
